The facility in Bakersfield is for spinal cord injury patients only. There is another HealthSouth facility that accepts spinal cord injury patients in Tustin.

Five levels of care are offered to people of all ages, depending upon the extent of the injury. Patients are provided for in an atmosphere that is residential, and includes individually decorated rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, entertainment areas, and an outdoor area. In addition to its homey atmosphere, CareMeridian also provides the most current and state-of-the-art technology and service. The staff is trained in treating medically complex situations, such as those that require IV infusion services and ventilator/tracheotomy support. In addition to 24-hour physician and rehabilitation care, CareMeridian also offers rehabilitation therapy services, nutritional services, and pharmacy, lab, radiology, and medical equipment services. CareMeridian has four locations in Northern California, including Elk Grove, Fairfax, Fresno, and Gilroy. In addition, there are six locations in Southern California, including Oxnard, La Habra Heights, Artesia, Santa Ana, Silverado, and Escondido. Patients receive three hours of therapy at least five days a week, and more than 6 hours of licensed nursing care per day. Casa Colina offers its renowned Signature Program, in which each and every patient receives and individualized program, in both brain and spinal cord injury. St. Jude Medical Centers for Rehabilitation

Geared specifically toward children, the programs advocate hope and healing in a supportive environment. Patient care is highly specialized depending upon the injury, and all patients have access to a wide variety of programs including physical therapy, occupational therapy, education and support groups, audiology services, and speech therapy. In an effort to help patients gain as much independence as possible, structured therapy programs that include clinics, coordinated home services, and community re-entry services are part of the care package offered.
